Agreed. [He remains on the bank, however, staring out into the distance as if waiting for something to rise up from the water.] After all the strange animals we've encountered, I wouldn't be surprised if anything could live in this.
Right. Let's just try... going around then, I guess. [He starts to move. ...Although it looks like there's bubbles on the surface of the water, in the spot that Phoenix's rock sunk into moments ago.]
[Edgeworth doesn't move. He makes a strangled sound of surprise when he sees the water begin to bubble. His eyes widen, he grits his teeth, and raises his saber as he backs away slowly.]
[Does that answer your question, Wright? Edgeworth would like to make that witty remark but he's too busy staring at that weird, monstrous head in shock and wondering if he should run, or engage it. His eyes are so wide they could pop out of their sockets, and his sword hand freezes. Fight, or flight? It wasn't moving where it was...
[Phoenix is similarly transifixed in horror for a few moments until Edgeworth speaks. Then Phoenix gives a creaky shake of his head.]
Nope! Edgeworth, um... let's get out of here! [He's ready to hightail it out of there, while the creature seems to have locked its sights onto them and lets out a high-pitched shriek.]
[Edgeworth doesn't say anything more. He grabs Phoenix's wrist and makes a run for it with a yelp, not looking back, blotting out the sound of the creature's shriek.
As much as possible, he didn't want to fight if he could help it. What if more creatures heard the commotion and came up to join the fun?]
[Well, no objections there. Phoenix stumbles a bit at first but he quickly regains his footing in keeping up with Edgeworth while jerking his hand away.
Edgeworth might have a sword now but Phoenix still doesn't want either of them to be involved in a fight at all. So his feet slosh through the mud as they run.]

Filthy, but otherwise fine.
[Edgeworth groans as he glances down at his clothes.]

[He inclines his head toward the direction of the water.]
Our investigation wasn't completely fruitless, at least. [Now they knew that there were things living in its depths. Yeech.]
