[Edgeworth doesn't say anything more. He grabs Phoenix's wrist and makes a run for it with a yelp, not looking back, blotting out the sound of the creature's shriek.

As much as possible, he didn't want to fight if he could help it. What if more creatures heard the commotion and came up to join the fun?]

[Well, no objections there. Phoenix stumbles a bit at first but he quickly regains his footing in keeping up with Edgeworth while jerking his hand away.

Edgeworth might have a sword now but Phoenix still doesn't want either of them to be involved in a fight at all. So his feet slosh through the mud as they run.]

Is it following us?!

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth nearly slips when he glances over his shoulder, but he lets go of Phoenix to allow the other man to run on his own.]

No!

[He continues running anyway.]

[bewrightback]

Good!!

[Phoenix will keep running alongside him anyway. ...Until he slips and falls face-first into more mud.]

Gack!!

[prosecutory]

Nnngghhoooh!

[Edgeworth trips and falls as well, distracted by Phoenix's spill. He drops the sword and skids, his face and his front liberally coated with mud.]

[Edgeworth plz... Phoenix tries to peel himself back up and spits out some mud.]

...You okay, Edgeworth?

[prosecutory]

I'm -

[He spits out his share of mud and makes a disgusted face as he pulls himself back into an upright position.]

Filthy, but otherwise fine.

[Edgeworth groans as he glances down at his clothes.]

Great. [He scratches at his head as he keeps on working on getting up. Still, he makes an attempt at humor.]

Guess our next stop when we get out of here will be the dry cleaners, huh?

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth nods grimly as he still tries to brush the grime off his clothes. Then he digs into his pocket for a handkerchief to wipe his face.]

Hmph. Yes.

[He inclines his head toward the direction of the water.]

Our investigation wasn't completely fruitless, at least. [Now they knew that there were things living in its depths. Yeech.]
