[Ohh! Merlin and Edgeworth are talking...and there's magic! Oh man, Ema's attention is completely focused on the spell, chewing her fingertips in anticipation!]
[ Well, really it is. It's something fresh, it's food compared to starving to death. He ends up having to close his eyes after though, sinking down a bit as he crosses his arms over his chest. ]
Don't worry about it, just fill yourselves up while you have the chance.
[ He does crack an eye open to glance at Ema though, amused that she's just sitting there watching the whole thing like it's the best thing since life itself. ]
Before it ends up as rotten as this place, anyway.
If it's all the same... Perhaps we could find another building to explore.
[even if she isn't looking, she can't help but be acutely aware of what's playing out around them. apart from the pain associated with both memories, it's angering, almost maddening to her that such personal things can be so easily displayed for anybody to see.]
[Edgeworth was, perhaps, one of the few who could place his hand on her shoulder and not have her flinch at the touch. Because not only did she trust him, but he already knew enough of her past that she didn't fear his judgement.]
Yes.
Is that what you saw as well?
[She wouldn't ask him the details unless he wanted to share. Respecting his privacy as much as he was willing to respect hers.]
[Edgeworth reaches out to pluck a tomato from the plant, and passes that to Ema. A second tomato is handed to Merlin, and only then does Edgeworth finally take one for himself, biting into the vegetable fruit slowly. He's tempted to wolf it down, but...no. Bad manners, and it's best that he doesn't rush it.]
[Does that answer your question, Wright? Edgeworth would like to make that witty remark but he's too busy staring at that weird, monstrous head in shock and wondering if he should run, or engage it. His eyes are so wide they could pop out of their sockets, and his sword hand freezes. Fight, or flight? It wasn't moving where it was...
[His eyes widen a touch at the sight of Maya's necklace shoved into his face, but otherwise he just leans away in case Athena really pushed her evidence right onto his nose. He remains silent when she points and is finally done, and lets out a long-suffering breath.]
[He does a circuit while Adelina is speaking, and stops when she proposes exploring somewhere else.]
Well, in any case, it seems that I can only find these...mirrors. [Edgeworth's eyes narrow as he regards one full-length pane where the scene in the elevator is playing yet again. The hand gripping his saber trembles as if he is itching to just cut the blasted thing down.]
[Edgeworth knew that case. It was the one that launched Phoenix's career; it was almost fitting, in a strange way, that he would begin by defending a friend. But this is also his first time seeing it in real time instead of reading about it in a court record. Despite Larry's failings, he was no murderer and did not deserve the charge.
Larry's blank look and lack of emotion are disturbing - but Edgeworth could see the reason why. It wasn't the same with Rapunzel, when he could not discern what had made a peppy young woman suddenly emotionless.]
So it is.
I've noticed many of the memories people see in these mirrors are unpleasant, to say the least.
[Phoenix is similarly transifixed in horror for a few moments until Edgeworth speaks. Then Phoenix gives a creaky shake of his head.]
Nope! Edgeworth, um... let's get out of here! [He's ready to hightail it out of there, while the creature seems to have locked its sights onto them and lets out a high-pitched shriek.]
[Ema takes it and goes into her bag for a small knife, cutting a few slivers out and eating them off the end of the blade. It makes her feel cool, don't you dare judge her.]
[ Honestly he's more concerned that Ema is putting a knife that sharp so close to her mouth, he even looks towards Edgeworth as if to ask is this even normal? (is anything normal in Edgeworth and Ema's world? probably not). ]
Don't mention it. [ He shifts to lean back again, not eating just yet as he rolls his tomato over in his hands. ] I can't keep doing it though, the ground he isn't the right condition and the entire area feels like it has a block on it.
[Rhys, on the other hand, doesn't have much experience with sneaky water creatures (creatures on land, though—well, he's essentially a monster hunter back home).]
Sooo... is that a vote for avoiding the suspicious body of water, or...?
[He nods toward Merlin; well, it can't be helped if this is all they can have for now. Then Edgeworth just watches Ema eat off the blade of the knife. He won't judge, but...he turns toward her.]
Be careful with that knife, Ema.
[Whoa, what a lucky break, she was able to have a knife with her.]
[Edgeworth doesn't say anything more. He grabs Phoenix's wrist and makes a run for it with a yelp, not looking back, blotting out the sound of the creature's shriek.
As much as possible, he didn't want to fight if he could help it. What if more creatures heard the commotion and came up to join the fun?]
