[Edgeworth returns with the stuff he needs to make a fire, gets down onto the ground and gets to work.]

That's right. [His brow furrows as he recalls those days, and as he tries to remember how he made a fire last time.] We suddenly found ourselves falling through the sky and into a jungle, and we were there for several days.

[ He lets out a drawn out breath - practically a sigh, really. ]

I guess I shouldn't be surprised by anything in this place anymore. [ Suddenly falling through the sky? Yeah, that actually sounds like something that would happen here - so much weird stuff has happened already that one thing more or less isn't going to make the difference. ]

Did you guys find anything special there?

["This place", huh? So, here was a veteran who had come back, Edgeworth presumes, from how their conversation went.

After a few attempts, Edgeworth finally creates some sparks and begins building a small fire.]

Yes, we did. We found the spirit of fire and the spirit of earth, and we were divided into large groups and sent to different locations by the corresponding "spirits" who claimed us.

[Wait, this is a bit of an info dump, isn't it? He pauses.]

You never run out of stuff to read here, huh..

[ It's said a little grumpily. Not that Shinpachi minds reading - okay, he looks like he's just a typical muscle mountain without a brain, but it's not really like that, alright! Don't be like his friends who just assume he never reads even though he likes doing that. No, it's not a complaint about the reading part, it's just the fact that his place is ridiculous enough to warrant an explanation that big, seriously.. ]

At least I can take it in bit by bit then, I guess. [ Since what Edgeworth is saying sounds even more weird than anything he's heard when he was still in this place.

Shinpachi glances around them, making sure nothing is rustling through the bushes. ] What kinda spirits are.. well, "claiming" us or whatever? And why?

[He feeds the fire until it looks more like a decent-sized campfire.]

There are four - one for each element. Earth, air, fire and water. For example, the earth spirit claimed me, and told me I had qualities she [Was the spirit a she? Uhhhh. Probably??] valued, or something of that sort.

What was the last, most recent event you remember here?

[ Element.. spirits.. okay. Sure. Whatever. He'll file that information in the back of his head to turn it over later on when he still isn't reeling a little from being thrown back in here. ]

You're really askin' me to dig here. [ .. okay, not really, considering it doesn't feel like long ago to him.. But his memory is still slowly coming back a little. So he frowns as he thinks for a moment before looking back at Edgeworth. ]

.. when we all got trapped in that weird code.. thing? I still remember that, at least.

It seems like you've been away for a few months.

[He nods slowly, taking that bit of information in.]

My name is Miles Edgeworth, by the way. I was among the newcomers who were accused of crimes we didn't commit. [He frowns in irritation. That's still not a very nice memory to relive.]

I do remember that, at least.

[ It means he at least hasn't been gone for a ridiculous amount of time.. A few months he can live with, but if it had been a few years, it would just have been.. well, weird. On so many levels.

And hey, at least Edgeworth can be happy that Shinpachi doesn't remember just what crime in particular they accused Edgeworth of! A little less embarrassment for free. ]

Oh! And.. I'm Shinpachi. Shinpachi Nagakura. [ Western order since this other guy's name sure sounds western as hell.. ] Good to meet someone who at least remembers some of the stuff I remember.

[ So he doesn't have to feel like he's slowly going crazy. ]

[prosecutory]

A pleasure, Mr. Nagakura. [He inclines his head, acknowledging the other man.] You'd be surprised; there are still many of us who have been here for far too long.

[Thank goodness he doesn't remember the crime. Inflammatory remarks on message boards for children's TV shows? Really??]

Can you please cut that deer and bring it here?

Of course. [ As Edgeworth says it, he's already cutting the deer.. It might be a gross task to a lot of people, sure, but Shinpachi's whole job description is filled with spilling blood. Compared to the number of people he's cut down for that, cutting up a deer to eat doesn't mean much.

Since he had already started on it a little (after making sure there was nothing lurking in the bushes, waiting to ambush them), it doesn't take too long before he's handing the first piece of meat over to Edgeworth. ]

Well, at least it looks normal enough.

[ The meat, that is. Don't.. ask him what he expected, okay, this place is so weird that the deer could have been filled with just about anything. ]

[prosecutory]

[He skewers the piece of meat on a stick and props it up in the dirt to cook over the fire, nodding his agreement as he squints at the said meat.

Looks like nothing crazy is happening while it roasts.]

I don't recall seeing a deer like this in the jungle we fell into, though.

[ There's another slightly wary look over at the half cut up deer at that statement.. Just making sure it's not really something weird in disguise, okay! Edgeworth's words sure aren't giving him a whole lot of faith. ]

What did you see there then?

[Edgeworth pauses, recalling that conversation with Dipper. Then he looks at Mabel and grins a bit.]

He said you were helpful. [And he's inclined to agree, because he met her before, buuuut that's a story for another day.]

[meowbel]

[Then there was a bit of a pause on her end]

Helpful huh? I'm kinda surprised he went with that! Nooottt that I can disagree, my brother's kind of pretty helpful too!

I mean, look at him making so many friends here! Now that surprised about! He's gone off and became a celebrity about here!

[prosecutory]

[He has to wonder what Dipper would think of this right now.]

I suppose it can't be helped, if he's so determined to learn as much as he can. That entails asking many people many questions.

[Edgeworth shrugs. That's not a bad thing. And friends are a good byproduct.]

[meowbel]

[Not that Mabel should be surprised, Dipper was the curious type. But at the same time, when her twin senses were tingling, she had to narrow her eyes a little.

Maybe she was being too nosey for her own good but when it came to her brother? Nothing is ever too nosey!!]

And mind if I ask exactly what questions did he ask you? [Pause] Just asking!

[She could ask Dipper himself, but...okay.]

He asked me about this place, and my own experiences here...and from a world different from this one and mine.

[meowbel]

[Not when Dipper's not letting her anything! But she just pondered to herself a little]

Different worlds? This is starting to sound more and more like some kind of weird sci fi stuff going on...

[But it didn't seem to last all that long when there seemed to be some more monsters in the distance!]

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth just gives her a wry smile and shrugs.]

Except that, of course, everything that is happening is real.

[meowbel]

[With her hearing the monsters nearby, Mabel knew exactly one thing to do!]

Well, if they are real then we better do something! We probably shouldn't be standing around should we?

Don't want to be turned into some monster food! That won't be fun!

[As she grabbed Edgeworth's hand, off they go and the chase was on!]

[prosecutory]

[He heard it too, and before he could say anything, she said it for him. Edgeworth lets her take his hand and he runs alongside her.]

Stay close to me!

[That goes without saying though, doesn't it, Edgeworth?]

[meowbel]

[It was a good thing that Mabel was use toall this running or else she would have some trouble running away from the monsters! But still, they got to do something...!

Hmmmm...there were those rocks over there too...]

Do you know how to get rid of them? I mean, I kind of got an idea but anything else you got would be great too!

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth looks up at those rocks.]

I only know how to kill them!

[meowbel]

But that means you can still knock them out somehow right? Like just a knock to the head and boom! Instant K.O.!

[That's her plan and she's sticking with it!]
