He doesn't like this at all, he really doesn't.

Sousei narrows his eyes at all of the doors, and then shakes his head firmly.]

We stay together, and go through them one by one if we must.

[Getting split up would just spell trouble.]

[prosecutory]

I have no objections to this plan. [Edgeworth sets his jaw and glances at all the doorways. They all look similar, and at first glance there are no signs or marks that would tell them anything useful.] We don't know what we'll face in these rooms.

[deontology]

[They don't, which is why Sousei's hand rests lightly on the hilt of his sword, even as he strides forward to grab the first door's handle.

ONLY ONE WAY TO FIND OUT.

He pulls the door open, and rather fearlessly (but carefully) steps through. So it's honestly very rude that it's an entirely different level completely, especially when the floor drops out from under him and dumps him into a pool of water.

GUH. Water level.]

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth remains a few steps behind, but when Sousei advances - and then suddenly falls and makes a splash, the prosecutor freezes in his tracks and gasps in surprise.]

...Sousei!

[He draws as close to the edge as he can without falling in himself to see where his companion went.]

[he hates his place.

Thankfully, Sousei can swim; he treads water with a sour expression on his face as Edgeworth pokes his head over the edge.]

... I'm fine.

[Just really unhappy.]

[prosecutory]

[At least Edgeworth doesn't have to play lifeguard. But he does crouch down and extend a hand, senses on the alert for any more tricks. What if the floor slid out from under his feet next?]

Do you see anything down there? [Well, it can't hurt to ask.]

[deontology]

[Yeah, alright, give him a moment to look around. He turns, treading water, and glances about, but it's all water and lilypads and frogs as far as the eye can see.

Gross.

He reaches up to take Edgeworth's hand, since there's not much in the way of purchase down here.]

No, there's nothing here. We'll try another door. [...] More carefully.

[prosecutory]

[And Edgeworth, one hand on the floor to keep his balance and the other hauling Sousei out, maintains his position and doesn't stand up until his companion is no longer in the water trap. He heaves a sigh of relief.]

No news is good news. [He gazes at the water again, where a frog hops off a lily pad and makes a tiny splash.] Very well, then.

[Ugh, he's dripping.

Sousei wrings out his ponytail as he responds, expression and tone tight but otherwise as calm as ever.]

Pick the next door. It hardly matters which order we go in.

[prosecutory]

Let's take the one next to it, so we can at least explore these doors systematically.

[Edgeworth glances over Sousei briefly; sure enough, the other man really is okay, if dripping. Then he strides over to the door on the right, his sword back in his hand. He opens it, leans away and holds up his blade in a guard position...

...three seconds pass and nothing happens. But the passageway is very dark.]

[Ominous as can be..........

Sousei peers into the passage, but...he really can't see anything at all, and that seems incredibly dangerous.]

...Let's check the other doors before taking that passageway.

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth lowers his sword and backs away from the ominous, inky blackness that gave them absolutely no clue as to what's on the other end. Then he points with his free hand to the door on the right of the dark passageway.]

Good idea. [After a moment's thought, he decides to push the door closed, not wanting to know if anything might leap out at them from there or not.]
