[ I'M SORRY MIA. I'M SORRY GODOT. ]
Wait--how can he be Miss Mia's colleague if he's a prosecutor?
no subject
He was a defense attorney before. But when Wright met him, he was already a prosecutor.
no subject
Can people do that?
no subject
Normally, no. It's a long story.
[Edgeworth closes his eyes briefly. Guess he'll have to be the one to tell this sad story, although he can do it candidly because it doesn't concern him much.]
He was in a coma after being poisoned, and became a prosecutor under the alias "Godot" to exact vengeance on Wright. You see, he blamed Wright for being unable to stop Miss Fey's murder.
ah... what a beautiful icon
[ there's a thoughtful pause there as she processes that. she knows that mia fey passed away, but she never knew the whole deal with the murder case. ]
But boss wasn't part if it, wasn't he? The murder, I mean... If the news regarding the case was out, then he should have known that boss had nothing to do with it.
why thank ye
[He put his cup down - more gently this time. Then he proceeds to unfold his chessboard and set up the pieces.]
Godot blamed Wright for not protecting Miss Fey on that fateful night. She was important to Godot, so when he awoke from his coma only to realize that she was dead, he directed all his emotions toward beating and humiliating Wright.

And this guy. He likes coffee?

Hmph. Of course not. [But he did call Miss Fey a novice bimbo and a quaggy woman, and made many defense attorneys lose their confidence by declaring all their clients guilty.]
Will you be black, or white?
no subject
That's boring. You could have had a really long cravat that slapped the defense and all... [ athena no. ]
I guess I'll go first. [ white it is! ]
no subject
That...would be very impractical and disruptive. [Not to mention very difficult to keep clean.]
I don't need anything of the sort to face the defense.
no subject
[ YEAH, SORRY, she's dissing your profession brah!! ]
no subject
[Right back at'cha, and as soon as Athena moves Edgeworth will ease one black pawn forward.]
no subject
We have to be loud because we're always being bullied, that's why!
no subject
Oh? And which prosecutors have bullied you during your career, Miss Cykes?
no subject
[ not that. she's had much contact with payne. it was only one time!! ]
no subject
Well, to be fair, there's just so many prosecutors in the Prosecutor's Office and he has never been so good with names, right?]
Who?
no subject
Prosecutor Payne...? The Rookie Killer?
no subject
[EDGEWORTH???
To be fair he's...not yet Chief Prosecutor though.]
no subject
I guess it doesn't matter. But if you do get to meet him, he has this annoying shrill voice. You definitely won't forget.
no subject
I'll keep that in mind. Is he your only problem?
no subject
[ she draws that out, unsure whether or not to tell. but in the end, she decides to say it. ]
Simon can be a bit of a bully.
[ understatement of the year. ]
no subject
[Edgeworth is silent for a moment when she mentions Simon. But when he speaks up again, he sounds pretty casual. Like they're talking about the weather at a coffee shop.
Close enough, since they're at a cafe.]
And what makes you consider him a bully?
[Athena had mentioned Payne having a shrill voice. Perhaps Payne enjoyed hearing the sound of his own voice?]
no subject
Have you talked to him?!
[ THAT ANSWERS THAT. ]
